Swallowing our pride...

Solitude Mountain Resort opened last week and being that we are 1. excited to see the snow again or 2. insane…we decided to take the kiddos up and check it out. We’ve never been to Solitude- so we had no clue what to expect. It was also the kid’s first day on skis this season. We started by making one wise choice- no skis for us today. We’d hoof it on the bunny hill and “see how day one goes.” After a somewhat slow, and very snowy drive up, we got helmets and goggles and jackets and mittens and…NO! We forgot the kids ski boots. After a few flurried moments of frustration we decided to swallow our pride and enter the rental shop.  I walked up to the desk and said, “we are those parents..the ones who forgot their kid’s boots.” Adapt and overcome. $16 later we were headed to the hill… We had an awesome morning! But in case people look at our pictures and think, “everything always works out for them,” let me show you much of what does interrupt our perfect days:

Bindings that are too loose
forgotten sunglasses and goggles that are too big

Lots of "legg work"
And messy faces...

We had snow pants that were now to small, ski socks that were missing, mittens that don’t stay on…lets just say we have lots of rough edges to grind off throughout the season.  But we kept a smile on our faces, hot chocolate in their tummies, and we all returned home, refreshed by the snow and the wind and the adventure. I have to remind myself, it isn’t about the ‘perfect’ day.  But how you ride through the imperfection.
